Reboot the guest and while reboot press the shift key.
This will bring up the GRUB menu.
In the grub menu, select “root” and run the below commands:

?> apt update
?> apt upgrade
?> apt install plasma-session-x11
?> apt install open-vm-tools-desktop
?> apt remove -y xserver-xorg-video-vmware
?> reboot

Now you can log in to the Wayland session in Kubuntu
