If you are using a DKMS-built driver and the error is Key was rejected by service, check whether a Machine Owner Key needs enrolling:

sudo update-secureboot-policy --enroll-key

Follow the enrollment instructions during reboot.

A similar issue has been reported specifically with Ubuntu 26.04 and NVIDIA open drivers or the VMWare workstation drivers.
